Mr. Ram Chandra Kharel came to United States of America on November 1991, when there were very few Nepalese people in Washington DC and very few foreigners were aware about Nepal. Despite being the attorney by profession, he changed his profession and entered multimedia field in America. He completed 3 years course on professional videographer and motion picture editing in America and started to work as Video engineer/Production manager at CDR communications (a full service television production company) at Burke, Virginia, USA.
Establishing Sagarmatha Television:
In 1996, Mr. Ram Chandra Kharel was working as volunteer to an Indian Television program. During a business meeting, one of his colleague mentioned Nepal as a part of India. After this incident, Mr. Kharel felt very offended and decided to introduce Nepal and Nepalese culture through television and launched television program from the capital of the United States of America. With the major motive of “introducing Nepal and Nepalese cultural heritage to the world and let people know that Nepal is an independent and sovereign nation”; Sagarmatha Television was established. Sagaramatha Television program is the first Nepali television program ever to be produced and broadcasted outside of Nepal in the Nepalese history.
